Frustrated- App not working

My iPhone5 (new) has not been able to generate one icon button from this app.
Window comes up saying cannot connect to iTunes whether or not I have the phone connected to my laptop
With iTunes open. Maddening- wanted to be able to give it the full 5 stars. I need to categorize my apps. Waaaa!
